Last week I received an email from a reader who wondered how I do when I watermark my photos. So I thought it might be interesting for everyone else as well. There are several different ways to do watermarks and you can use your logo or plain text.
Today I will show you how to make a watermark in plain text as in the picture above. In part 2, I will show you how to make a watermark with a logo.

You can use several different programs, most common is Adobe Photoshop and that's the program I use here. First, open the photo you want watermark.
In the left menu (sometimes it can be right ) there're different tools, including that onw with a big T. Click on the T. Then klick somewhere on your photo and type whatever you like, your name, the name of your business, a URL or something like that.

Usethe text menu to change the size, font and colour. If you'd like the watermark to be a little transparent like in my photo, choose white colour.

You can move the text by clicking on it and "grab".
In the menu at the bottom left you will find the different layers. The photo is one layer and the text is layer. First, click on the text layer. Just above it you will find a small slider that says opacity. Here you can change how transparent you want the text. Try and see what you think looks good. When you are satisfied with your watermark, save the photo and you're done!

How big you want your watermark, where to place it and what font and colour is of course up to you according to what you think looks good!
But my advice is to try to make the watermark quite diskrekta and not "all over the place." A big watermark, in the middle can certainly ruin the image. Of course you want to pass on your message, but don't forget that the object on the image is the main message.

Hope you found this helpful. If you have any questions or tips please write a comment down below! Next week I'll be back with the second part and an instruction on how to put use logo as a watermark.
